Julie Ware – The Jerry Shuffle
Nate used to belong to the Mazamas, a mountain climbing club hiking up Mt. Hood and Mount Rainier. Jerry was their leader. Jerry didn’t believe that galloping up the mountain was in the best interest of anyone. The ones who started like they were in a race to get to the top, never made it.
But Jerry had something called the “Jerry Shuffle”. It was a slow stride but most everyone made it to the top.
Many of us are climbing mountains. We are in a hurry to get to the top and over. We pray for God to move the mountain so that we don’t have to climb.
King James Version: 1 Corinthians Chapter 14:15
“What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.”
As we are climbing the mountain, take time to figure out God’s shuffle “not to race to the top” but reach out for God’s hand as we embrace “or get in touch with each of our gifts of the Holy Spirit” . . . as we pray with God’s Spirit, we do the “shuffle” journeying up the mountain. Our steps shuffle with God’s Steps, with His Timing, His Grace and His Love.
The Gifts of the Spirit – 1 Corinthians 12:7-11
“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.”
King James Version: 1 Corinthians Chapter 16,23,24
6 And it may be that I will abide, yea, and winter with you, that ye may bring me on my journey whithersoever I go.
23 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
24 My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.
