Pastor Will Shewey’s Post About This Sunday
This cold Sunday is in the books. Life Bridge Christian Church provided a Mexican theme community meal to a large crowd.
Channel 11 news came and interviewed us about opening as an overnight warming station. I always tell them we’re simply carrying out the Christian message and “being” the church, meeting needs as we encounter them.
Members of DAV brought a flag and presented it to Martha Castle in memory of her late father who served during the Korean conflict. The DAV members then remained for worship.
Mikie and Oscar shared special Music and our service began with reading a portion of Dr. Martin Luther King, JR “I Have a Dream Speech.” Together as a congregation we sang,” We Shall Overcome.” The message explained how God’s plan for our success is “All Wrapped Up in Jesus.” He is our mentor.
A Kingsport Police Officer brought a young mother and precious little one year old child to Shades of Grace as our worship ended. She is victim of domestic situation and didn’t have a coat or blanket for the baby. They were cold and the baby hungry. They are in good hands tonight and our crisis team will begin assisting her this week.
We truly are God’s Living Room and many in need of hope and comfort enter our doors daily. Tonight a number of otherwise cold and lonely souls are resting in warmth because of the faithful stewardship of many! We are blessed to be a blessing!
