Pastor Will Shewey, Shades of Grace United Methodist Church
Tuesday (Daily Example of What Happens at Shades of Grace) February 12, 2019
By Pastor Will Shewey
Intense… a good description of what we experienced on this Tuesday at Shades. Sometimes we provide solutions. Sometimes there are none. A lady today needed her water turned back on. Her 80 year old mother is dying at home with hospice. A lady whose rent was delinquent due to her husband being entered into hospice following several weeks in the hospital.
An elderly lady was discharged from a nearby medical center and brought to Shades. Had not eaten at hospital and still wearing bracelet ID. Yes, all these needs were met.
However… a young man whom we’d never seen before had been kicked out from parents home.. couldn’t provide many answers there. A wife desperate because her severely brain injured estranged husband has been released following a one year stay in a group home for traumatic brain patients and has to be dealt with as child and on the streets..a call to APS was recommended.
A case worker for a convicted sex offender called is because there are no options for him. We could offer none. This literally scratches the surface of one day’s events..Glad Jesus is Counsellor and Great Physician, because sometimes we can’t do this on our own. So many tragedies, so many blessings!
Pray tonight for Debra.. Her twin sister passed away last night and her husband is in the hospital.
