“SALTY CHRISTIANS”

I sometimes imagine that the church is like a great salt shaker, and that each believer is a grain of salt. We are at God’s will and He shakes us out where we are needed. After all, Jesus said that we are the salt of the earth.

Salt does several good things, but today I focus on it as a preservative. Sometimes we all need a little help preserving our faith. We make mistakes, get depressed, and we do sin. We are blessed when we have someone to help us through the trying times. Such people are salt to our troubled soul.

Do you ever wonder why life has brought you to a certain place, and in contact with the people around you? Have you ever complained about your place in life, and wished for better circumstances? Perhaps you are exactly where God wants you to be so that you can do the work of salt. Someone may need your inspiration, encouragement and help.

We have seen what these salty Christians can do for others. There are souls who have living faith today because someone kept their faith from dying. We all know lives that were headed for destruction until they were preserved by the Salt of Jesus Christ.

The Bible says, “Brothers and Sisters, if someone is caught in a trespass, you who are spiritual should restore that person with a spirit of gentleness. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. Carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the Law of Christ. (Galatians 6:1-2)

“Rescue the perishing, duty demands it;
Strength for thy labor the Lord will provide;
Back to the narrow way patiently win them;
Tell the poor wanderer a Savior has died.”

Rescue the Perishing – Waponyeni Watu.

1. Walio kifoni, nenda waponye,
Uwatoe walio shimoni;
Wanaoanguka uwainue;
Habari njema uwajulishe.

Walio kifoni waokoeni;
Mwokozi yuko huwangojea.

2. Wajapokawia anangojea,
Awasubiri waje tobani;
Mwokozi hawezi kuwadharau
Huwasamehe tangu zamani.

3. Na ndani ya moyo ya wanadamu,
Huwamo shida, tena huzuni;
Lakini kwa Yesu kuna rehema,
Kuwaponya na kuwaokoa.

4. Walio kifoni, nenda waponye;
Kazi ni yetu, zawadi iko;
Nguvu kuhubiri Bwana hutoa
Kwa subira tuwavute sasa.

SDA HYMNAL NO. 367 RESCUE THE PERISHING.

1. Rescue the perishing, care for the dying,
snatch them in pity from sin and the grave;
weep o’er the erring one, lift up the fallen,
tell them of Jesus, the mighty to save.

Rescue the perishing, care for the dying;
Jesus is merciful, Jesus will save.

2. Though they are slighting him, still he is waiting,
waiting the penitent child to receive;
plead with them earnestly, plead with them gently;
he will forgive if they only believe.

3. Rescue the perishing, duty demands it;
strength for thy labor the Lord will provide;
back to the narrow way patiently win them;
tell the poor wanderer a Savior has died.

Mt 28:20 “…teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have
enjoined you. And behold, I am with you all the days, until the completion of the age.”

Ga 6:1 ¶ Brethren, if even a man be taken in some fault, ye who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of meekness, considering thyself lest [thou] also be tempted.

Ro 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not
believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have
not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

Warumi 10:14 Basi wamwiteje yeye wasiyemwamini?
Tena wamwaminije yeye wasiyemsikia?
Tena wamsikieje pasipo mhubiri?

Warumi 10:14 Lakini watamwitaje Yeye ambaye hawajamwamini?
Nao watawezaje kumwamini Yeye ambaye hawajamsikia?
Tena watamsikiaje bila mtu kuwahubiria?
