2 Corinthians 4:18

DEVOTION FOR TODAY, August 13, 2019

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

Why Lord, did you choose it to be this way? I can’t see you today, but I know that you are near. Neither can I feel you though you are holding me close. Our troubles are so visible but you hide your presence in the air.

The words of the song say, “I thought I had to see and feel; to prove that what I loved was really real…” Finally I understand it Lord. All our trials will be over one of these days. The troubles of this life, the tangled web of sin, sickness and the frightening things that we see today will all be cast into the sea that will be seen no more.

Then we will see throughout eternity what is invisible today: the face of God in a world of perfect love. “Blessed are the ones who do not see and yet believe.”

The song continues: “My faith still holds on to the Christ of Calvary
Oh blessed Rock of Ages cleft for me
I gladly place my trust in things I cannot see
My faith still holds on to the Christ of Calvary.”

Dear friends, In spite of how things may look and seem to be. If we can open the eyes of our faith; then fear and worry can vanish as we know that someday we shall behold Him, face to Face; and we will praise Him forever in a world where tears and fears will be wiped away.

Until then it is enough to know that “The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” Psalm 121:8

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
