“Don’t Give Up; Look Up, Lift Up, Pray Up, Get Up, Stand Up”
“Just go, who cares where?” How can people be so mean to one another? Here she was sitting by a lonely road and crying. Her son was hungry, they had not eaten in days and he was at the point of death. What good is an empty water bottle on a desert road? She cried for him; why had God forsaken them? “What ails you?” That was God’s question as clear as anything. “What ails me? Doesn’t He know? Of course He does!”
“Meanwhile, God heard the boy crying. The angel of God called from Heaven to Hagar, “What’s wrong, Hagar? Don’t be afraid. God has heard the boy and knows the fix he’s in. Up now; go get the boy. Hold him tight.” Genesis 21:17-18 MSG
When you feel like you are ready to give up; don’t do it. Never give up when you can lift up a prayer. The Lord opened her eyes and she saw a well of water. Did He just put it there, or was it there all the time. Answered prayers are like that; sometimes they are put there by God while we are praying, and other times they have been there all along, and God just opened our eyes to see.
She was lonely, but not alone. “O ye beneath life’s crushing load, whose forms are bending low, who toil along the climbing way with painful steps and slow, look now! For glad and golden hours come swiftly on the wing. O REST BESIDE THE WEARY ROAD, and hear the angels sing.”
It is true: “God knows the fix we are in; and best of all He cares. Another old hymn to love: “Are you anxious what shall be tomorrow? Tell it to Jesus alone. Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus; He is a Friend that’s well known. You have no other such a friend or brother; Tell it to Jesus alone.”
Dear friend, don’t give up; look up, lift up, pray up, get up, stand up; but never give up on the Lord. He will never give up on you.
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
