“…a great door for effective work has opened to me…”

Have you ever had a door to be closed that you really wanted to go through? Did you feel that God was wrong in doing so? If only we could see behind some of those doors, we would understand what the omnipotent hand of God was doing.

The Apostle Paul spoke on occasion about doors that the Lord closed, and others that were opened for them. When it comes to the doors in the kingdom, I pray that we will have the wisdom to know which we should go through, and which is not for us. We can blunder our way into a place where the Lord did not intend for us to be. There have been many times when a person discovered that the area where they wanted to serve the Lord was not the place they were equipped for.

The other side of all this is when the Lord opens a door for effective work. We may be afraid to pass through it or feel that we are hearing him wrong. Some of the most meaningful work that I have experienced has been inside doors that I was initially afraid to pass through. Had it not been for the fact that the Lord was already there to welcome me, and say, “Come on in,” I might not have gone.

If God closes a door it is not necessarily because he has a better one, but the right one in mind for us. We go through a lot of doors in a lifetime. “Teach us Lord, to know the ones that open into your presence.”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
