Proverbs 3:56

DEVOTION FOR TODAY, November 2, 2020

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

How can it be that so many of us claim this Scripture as a favorite and at the same time not fully practice it? It is easy to call on the Lord for some things, and yet not consider him with all our life.

“All” is the key word. We trust with all our heart, and we submit to him in all our ways. If we are going to give ourselves to God; then we give all. Christianity has suffered from piecemeal commitments.

That is certainly what Jesus did for us. Throughout his ministry there was not even the tiniest matter that he did not first bring to the Father. I find it instructional that before Jesus raised Lazarus he prayed, “I thank you that you have heard me.” It seems that what he would do had already been settled in prayer before he got there. Isn’t there a lesson to be learned?

We were bound for hell and there was only one price that could save us. The song say’s the rest:

“And when before the throne
I stand in him complete
Jesus died my soul to save
My lips shall still repeat

Jesus paid it all
All to him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow.”

If he could pay all to save us, certainly we can trust the Lord in all things, and it is not too much to give him our life, our love, our all.

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
