Ruth 1:16
DEVOTION FOR TODAY, November 12, 2020
“Do not press me to leave you or to turn back from following you! Where you go, I will go; where you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God my God.”
“Do not press me to leave you or to turn back from following you! Where you go, I will go; where you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Ruth 1:16
I have a picture in my study that has special meaning to me. It was a gift from our daughter, Bethany; she took the picture herself. It was made from a rock on top of Angels Rest Mountain overlooking Pearisburg, Virginia. I visited that spot several times in my youth. That is what made it so special. There was a connection, a rare place where two generations have stood; and a gift that required a great amount of effort and climbing to provide.
I tend to live on the sentimental side, and shared pathways are meaningful to me.
Each day: no matter where I go, I am not only where the Lord has been, but where He is. It may be a church, hospital, nursing home, jail; you name it, and Jesus has already been there. Christians have a connection that go all the way back to the cross of Calvary.
Someday this path will reach the end of earth’s journey. There it will extend into the vast unknown. Yet, there is no fear because the familiar footprints of loved ones are before us, and the abiding presence of God is with us.
“I walked today where Jesus walked,
In days of long ago.
I wandered down each path He knew,
With reverent step and slow.
Those little lanes, they have not changed,
A sweet peace fills the air.
I walked today where Jesus walked,
And felt Him close to me.”
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
