1 Corinthians 12:7-11

THOUGHT FOR TODAY, Feburary 5, 2021

“Careful of What You See, Careful of What You Think, Careful of What You Hear . . .”

Saw this ad, and thought . . . Gee, that’s not bad . . . 40% Down Mattress, thought to myself, “That sounds soft, warm and luxurious . . .” Then I realized that it was 40% “$ down” . . .

Years ago at Christmas, I stood in line at the Post Office with several large boxes. My sister’s house had just burned; I couldn’t get to her so I did the best I could to make sure that some immediate needs were replenished. As, they saw all my boxes, I heard people in the back of the line talking, “I never send Christmas presents anymore, I send money.” So they smugly assumed I was sending Christmas presents.

Many times I have heard people talking about a situation or another person . . . Like they really knew everything about the situation or the person, and knew well enough to sum up an assumption. Or . . . Someone else made the assumption and they assumed they were in the know enough to repeat it.

Believe me, that is not likely what God, in His wisdom, sees. God gives His children each spiritual gifts . . . Assignments of “assumption” is not one of them. God brings all our gifts and talents together as one, all to benefit one another.

1 Corinthians 12:7-11 King James Version (KJV)

7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
