Christ in the Alphabet “B”
Good morning. This is Judy. Today let us continue our devotion series, Christ in the Alphabet, by looking at the letter “B.”
The first book in the Bible, Genesis starts with: “In the beginning…”. Christ is the beginning – the Alpha. He is also known as our “bright” morning star. In Christ there is no darkness. He is the one and only true light in a world of darkness. Christ came to us the first time as a Beautiful Baby Boy Born in Bethlehem. When He comes the second time, it will be as a Bride (the church) adorned for her Bridegroom (Jesus) to take us to that Heavenly Banquet (eternal life). Have you accepted your invitation? We do not know when that day will come – we had better be ready to go in the twinkling of an eye.
Christ is also our “Bread of Life.” People eat bread to satisfy physical hunger and to sustain physical life. We can satisfy our spiritual hunger and sustain our spiritual life only by a right relationship with Jesus Christ. Bread must be eaten to give life and Christ must be invited into our daily walk to give spiritual life.
Christ is also our “Burden-bearer.” In the Bible we are told to cast our burdens upon the Lord and He will sustain us. He is always there waiting on us to call out to Him for help in times of troubles and in calm, peaceful times as well. Too often we continue to bear our burdens ourselves even when we say we are trusting Christ to handle the situation. Why not take a load off of your shoulders and Take your burdens to the Lord and leave them there?
Let Us Pray
Lord, our life’s journey has a beginning and that start is with you. You are our bright morning star that shines brightly in a world of darkness resulting from sinfulness. Lord may we feast on the Bread of life and be filled with your Holy Spirit.
Teach us to leave our burdens at the foot of the cross where you took our place as you gave the ultimate sacrifice, your death. Help us to come to you and rest, for your yoke is easy and your burden light. May we serve you with boldness with all our might. In your name we pray. AMEN
