JUDY DEAN
Christ in the Alphabet – “J”
Good morning. This is Judy. Today we will look at the letter “J” as we continue our Christ in the Alphabet devotion series. Christ is “Jehovah” – God. He is “Jehovah-Jirah” – God who provides. Christ is “Jesus” – our Savior. He alone saves. Christ is our “Justification.” Justification is the act of God by which He declares sinners to be righteous because of Christ alone, by grace alone, and by faith alone.
God accepts us, not because of what we’ve done for Him, but because of what Christ did for us. Nothing in myself is the basis of my justification – it is through Jesus alone.
Christ is our “Judge.” He is the only one who has that right. We shouldn’t be so quick to judge anyone. It is more important to judge our own response to God than to analyze another person’s response.
Jesus tells us to examine our own motives and conduct instead of judging others. Christ is our “Joy.” Joy is found when we put our trust in Christ. It is not something we can concoct or produce for ourselves. It only comes through fellowship with Christ. To have JOY – put Jesus first, Others second, and Yourself last. The “Joy” of the Lord is our strength.
Let Us Pray
Jesus, You are the source of our joy. You are Jehovah – God, our Savior and Lord. We are justified through what you did for us and not because of anything we have done.
Help us to not be so quick to judge others. Instead teach us to examine our own lives more. Help us to live Holy lives before you, Jehovah – God. Everything we have, we owe to you, Jehovah – Jirah. In the name of Jesus, our Savior, we pray. AMEN
