JUDY DEAN
Christ in the Alphabet – “O”
Good morning. This is Judy. Today let us continue our Christ in the Alphabet devotion series by looking at the letter “O.” Christ is the “Only One” and the “One and Only.” He is the “Only” begotten Son who sacrificed his life so that we might live. He is the Only One who can save.
He is the One we are to love, honor, worship, and praise. The word or prefix “Omni” means all. Christ is “Omnipresent” – all present; “Omniscient” – all-knowing; “Omnipotent” – all powerful; and “Omnibenevolent” – all loving. Christ is the “Overcomer.”
In John 16:33, the Bible says: “I have overcome the world.” In spite of everything we struggle with, Jesus tells us to be of good cheer because He has “overcome” the world. The ultimate victory has already been won and we can claim the peace of Christ in our most troublesome times. Christ is the “Omega.” In the Greek alphabet, Omega is the last letter. Christ is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end of all existence, wisdom, and power. He is our reason for living.
Let Us Pray
Jesus, our Lord, the Offspring of David and our reason for living, we love you for being our One and Only God. You are our all in all. Because you have overcome all sin, evil, death, Hell, and the grave, we can have peace and strength to be overcomers in this journey we call life.
Just as you are the Alpha, the beginning, the creator, and the author of our faith, you are also the Omega, the ending, and the finisher of our faith. When we leave this old world and go to live with you, all creation will end, a new creation will take place, and our faith will become sight. Hallelujah – Praise the Lord, and so be it. AMEN
