JUDY DEAN
Christ in the Alphabet – “Q”
Good morning. This is Judy with today’s Christ in the Alphabet devotion series. Today I want to start with a little bit of trivia. I am going to give you the answers and then I will share the question. Kinda like the game show Jeopardy. Ready? Here is your clue. This is the least used letter of the English alphabet and the only letter not used in any US state name. Give up? Remember your answer needs to be in the form of a question. And the answer is: What is the letter “Q.”
The answer to all our questions should be Jesus Christ. The most important question you will ever have to answer is: What do you believe about Christ? Just as Christ provided Quail from Heaven for the greedy Israelites, He also provides us with the necessities of life. Don’t be like the Israelites – don’t let your lusts, or wants, cause you to be greedy. God is a jealous God, which, in Hebrew, is El Qanna.
James 1:19 tells us to be Quick to listen and slow to speak. We all have a tendency to do just the opposite. Our tongues speak before our minds think or our ears listen and this can cause many problems.
1 Thessalonians 5:9 tells us to “Quench” not the Spirit.” We should never ignore or toss aside the gifts that the Holy Spirit gives us.
In the Apostle’s Creed and in 2 Timothy 4:1, we are told that Christ will judge the “Quick” and the dead, meaning that He will judge all men – past, present, and future. No one will escape the judgment.
Let Us Pray
Jesus, Help us to listen more to you and to the needs of others. Your Word is our meat, our Quail from Heaven. Help us to be content and not be greedy.
Teach us to obey the Holy Spirit and to never Quench the mighty works of your power and presence. Help us to be still, or quiet, and know that you are God and you come to judge each one of us now and forever.
Lord, we place our lives in your hands. Wrap your loving arms around each of us like a warm, fuzzy quilt. You are our shelter in the many storms of life. Keep us all safe from day to day. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, we make our prayer.
AMEN
