Christ in the Alphabet – “S”
Join me today as we look at the letter “S” in our Christ in the Alphabet devotion series. Christ is the Son of our most Sovereign God. He is the Savior of all mankind. He is our Stay and the rock of our Salvation.
He is our Strength, our Sword and our Shield protecting us and Sustaining us from all evil. His love for us is Steadfast and Sure. Christ is the Same – yesterday, today, and forever. He is our Shelter in the tumultuous storms of life.
From Sun-up to Sun-down, His name is to be praised. We can be Secure in the Spirit of truth. When things don’t go the way we think they should or when bad things happen to good people, we should always remind ourselves that He is in control. Leviticus, Chapter 16 describes the Sacrifice of 2 goats on the Day of Atonement. A person’s sin was forgiven through the first animal sacrifice and their guilt was removed through the second goat sacrifice.
Because Jesus shed his own blood for us, his sacrifice is greater than any Old Testament offering. Christ became our permanent Sacrifice, our Scapegoat.
In closing today, let us make Psalms 139:23,24 our prayer.
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my thoughts. And see if there be any wicked way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.” If we ask the Lord to search and purge our hearts and thoughts of any sin or evil in our lives, then we will be continuing in God’s everlasting way. Let God purge or cleanse you from deep within your heart. In Jesus’ name, I pray. AMEN
