“RAY AMOS – Communicating the Gospel – Matthew 11:25”
From August 10th, 2022

Rev. Ray and Pat Amos

Matthew 11:25

“At that time Jesus said, ‘I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children”

“Communicating the Gospel”

Our Savior gave us those words for a reason. Perhaps the greatest sign that a sermon is pleasing to Jesus is when a child happily remembers it.

Walk with Jesus down the Gospel streets and notice how simple and kind His life is. The smallest child can love Him, and yet, the scholar can sing “Jesus Loves Me,” with a tear in his/her eyes.

Divinity School started for me in the barnyard. That’s where a little boy explored and played; there were rocks to climb, animals around, and the love of simple hard working beautiful people.

That’s where I learned that simplicity is the best kind of living. Someone asked, “Is it alright to pray for a dog?” I remember leaning over a fence, standing beside Aunt Clara, while praying for a pig. I didn’t do it because it was good Theology; I did it because she had taught me that God cares about everything that has breath. For my Barnyard Theology teacher, it was just good simple faith; and her student remembers and says, “Amen.”

Dear Christian friends, we are all called to communicate the Gospel in some way. May I offer three guiding thoughts: Is it simple? Is it believable? Does it offer the hope we have in Jesus? People are hungry and starving for the Bread of Life. “Would you please pass the biscuits?”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
