1 Corinthians 15:19

If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” 1 Corinthians

“Now Abideth Hope”

“Abideth,” what a wonderful word! It means that something continues without fading or being lost. There are three abiding things that we know. They are Faith, Hope and Love. Even though hope abides we seem to be getting a little rusty with our ability to practice it in our daily lives.

Many are giving up on hope in these uncertain and troubled times. That is an area where Christians (the church) should be excelling. If it appears that we have lost hope, then what have we got to offer a discouraged world?

The Bible says that in Christ we have hope as an anchor for our soul. Where are we anchoring our hope these days? We have one of two choices: We can anchor down to the things of this earth, or we can anchor up in Heaven itself. Anchor down and hope will become most miserable. We are experiencing that now in our world. The things that so many have depended on are failing.

Those who anchor up can sing the song, “The anchor holds, though the ship is battered. The anchor holds, though the sails are torn. I have fallen on my knees as I faced the raging seas. The anchor holds, In spite of the storm.”

Let there be a revival of hope. Let’s sing the Lord’s praise today as we tell the world with new vitality that our hope is built in nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness! Tell it out dear Christian friends; plead with the down in heart: “Don’t give up, but look up; don’t give in, but let Jesus in.”

“When darkness veils his lovely face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil.”

If we are a little rusty with hope, it is time to let the Holy Spirit oil the hinges of our heart. The storehouse is filled with hope for all needs, and it is ready to be delivered. Glory Halleluiah!

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
