“Ray Amos – Friendliness – Proverbs 18:24”
From August 13th, 2022

Rev. Ray and Pat Amos

Proverbs 18:24

“A person who has friends must be friendly…”

“Friendliness”

This is a Scripture that proves itself true every day in many ways. It is true in a store or business. When friendliness goes, so do the customers. It is also true of local churches. It means a lot to be welcomed with friendly smiles when you visit a church. Pastors and congregations, please! get out the welcome mat; open your doors, arms, and hearts. From a pastor who is now on the visiting side of the church door I can tell you that it makes a big difference.

I have always believed that welcoming guest and visitors is important. Jesus said, “I was a stranger, and you took me in.” Why wouldn’t that also be true for the local church?

There are places where we all are made to feel at home. In those places we are loved and comfortable; it is a wonderful feeling. For Pat and I that has always been the church. Where Christ is truly offered so is fellowship with God’s people.

Think about it: The greatest thrill of Heaven is being at home in the presence of Jesus with those we have loved so much. The local church should be an example of that glorious unending day.

There is an old song that makes a glad heart. I hope that all of us can sing it.

“I love the thrill that I feel when I get together with God’s wonderful people
Love the thrill that I feel when I get together with God’s wonderful people
What a sight just to see all the happy faces
Praising God in heavenly places
What a thrill that I feel when I get together with God’s wonderful people.”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
