“RAY AMOS – Old Wells – Genesis 26:18”
From August 23rd, 2022

Genesis 26:18

“Isaac reopened the wells that had been dug in the time of his father Abraham, which the Philistines had stopped up after Abraham died…”

“Old Wells”

Wherever Abraham traveled with his family the first order of business was to build an altar, and dig a well. Those are two essentials for living.

Isaac came along in his Father’s footsteps. The Bible says that he reopened his Father’s wells because the enemy had closed them. He also rebuilt altars because people need water, and people need the Lord.

A man said to me, “I can’t seem to pray right now, and I want to get my relationship with the Lord back.” There is a thirst that nothing can satisfy except water from the Fountain of Christ. All the specialty flavored drinks that this world offers a thirsty soul is not satisfying the deep down need of our heart.

Perhaps we need to take a new look at the old wells that once supplied our lives with a source of life that now seems to be missing for a lot of people. Maybe it is time to reopen the old wells.

We don’t need to thirst a day longer. Jesus said, ” Blessed are they who hunger and thirst after righteousness for they Shall be satisfied.”As the song says,

There is a river,
and it flows from deep within
There is a fountain,
that frees the soul from sin

Come to this water;
there is a vast supply
There is a river,
that never shall run dry.
