John 7:6

“Then Jesus said unto them, my time is not yet come but your time is always ready.”

“Faith Reminds Us It’s Unrevealed Until Its Season”

It seems that waiting is a fact of life. Have you seen the billboards that tells you the up to date waiting time at the hospital emergency room? We have all heard the dreaded, “please stay on the line for the next available representative. Your call is important, and your estimated time of waiting is thirty minutes (or much more).”

“Sorry that I’m a little late. I have been trying to get here for twenty-one days, but I was held up on another job. I finally got some help, so here I am.” Don’t you get tired of hearing things like that? Would it surprise you to know that the apology is coming from an angel? The story is found in Daniel 10:12-14

We may feel like we are on hold with our prayer, but faith reminds us that we are not forgotten. This too is as the song says, it is “unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.”

There are some things to remember when we pray: The first is to know that our prayers are immediately in the presence of God. “God heard your words the first day. Now I have come…” The second thing to remember is that there are heavenly powers involved in the answering of our prayers. Finally, we are reminded of the importance of patience when we pray. In prayer we learn to wait as a farmer who sows seed and waits patiently for the harvest.

Have you ever been like the child who wanted to help the Lord speed up things, so he pulled the pedals open on the roses? Some of us have done similar things in life. We got tired of waiting and took our own action. That is how a lot of problems get started.

Waiting is learned in the school of life. If today was report card day (a dreaded day in my childhood) what would your grade be in the class of anticipatory patience?

I love this old Gospel song: “Teach me Lord to wait down on my knees Till in Your own good time You answer my pleas.Teach me not to rely on what others do, but to wait in prayer for an answer from You.”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
