Pastor Will Shewey, Shades of Grace United Methodist Church
Luke 6:45
“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good . . .”
How many times have you heard “Excuse me, but you’re in my seat.”? These words should NEVER be spoken in a house of worship. Yet, it probably happens in church more than any other place.
I’ll be talking about what all this means in regards to a story Jesus told as recorded in the gospel of Luke. We will be challenged to think about fairness and equality to even the very least among us.
Join us at the only United Methodist Congregation in the TriCities that worships primarily on Saturday instead of the traditional Sunday experience. Casual dress is ALWAYS order of the day. Shades of Grace is a welcoming and affirming place of worship in a modest storefront setting. There is likely not another place you’ll ever see quite like Shades.
We will offer some of the very best music and singing anyone will find in the whole area. We always welcome everyone to share musical gifts in worship. Speak with Landon and hear how the process works. There will be prayers and praise with a challenging sermon.
Due to current high COVID infections, we are encouraging masks. If you need one, it will be available as you enter. Social distancing will be practiced as best we can. Please be with us!
Shades of Grace is the only United Methodist congregation that meets on Saturday mornings in the TriCities, welcoming of ALL people regardless of status, with uplifting and inspiring music, prayers and a challenging gospel message.
Doors are open, fresh air circulating and chairs socially distanced as best we can to accommodate the growing congregation. A KPD officer is always in house as part of our safe sanctuary policy. Come check out the very unusual and non traditional house of worship – 313 E. Sullivan Street, Kingsport, Tennessee.

“The Stories We Hear, Almost Daily at Shades of Grace Ministry”
Eric is a young man who was part of our homeless community during our formative years as a new congregation. He was an addict. Eventually he chose to enter long term rehab. He moved to Michigan a few years ago and reunited with his young son. This is the message I received last night. There is hope in Jesus amid every struggle.
Will Shewey, I’m doing better than ever, if it wasn’t for you well I would’ve never started my change so I give all props to you. And The church was always there for me at my toughest times and at my best times.
***We need to hear these stories of hope as the Lord Abides.
