1 Thessalonians 5:18
“In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
“GOD’S TWO DWELLINGS FOR THANKSGIVING”
There are those times when we must be thankful despite not feeling like it. There are things that we just cannot be thankful for; yet we can be thankful in all things because we have God’s love and friends who give strength, comfort, and hope.
God’s goodness has been great to us, and we must never let a day or night pass without remembering what the Lord has done.”
God has two dwellings: one in Heaven, and the other in a meek and thankful heart. The Psalmist wrote, “But you are holy, you who inhabit the praises of Your people.” Does God have such a place in our life?
Our body is the temple of God. If it had many rooms dedicated to the Lord; would there be a Room of Gratitude? What pictures would hang on the wall; and whose names would be in our conversations? Would we visit there often? Would the carpet be as worn as the carpet in the Asking Room?
How long has it been since we entered this room with thanksgiving, and praise? Do we ever come to God to just visit and appreciate Him? I have loved this song most of my life:
“I didn’t come here to ask You for anything
I just came to talk with you Lord
You’ve answered a million prayers or more
That I forgot to thank You for
I just came to talk with You Lord
Maybe tomorrow there’ll be trouble and sorrow
And a thousand teardrops may fall
But until I face tomorrow’s task
I have no special favor to ask
I just came to talk with you Lord.”
