“RAY AMOS – HELPING OTHERS TO GET KNOW HIM – Psalm 55:12-14”

Psalm 55:12-14

“If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it; if a foe were rising against me, I could hide. But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend, with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship at the house of God, as we walked about among the worshipers.”

“HELPING OTHERS TO GET KNOW HIM”

These are challenging times for our churches, and the issues that we face may not be what we think they are. We draw our line in the sand and believe our side is right. I wonder if the devil dances on our lines.

“For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon!’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look at this glutton and drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is vindicated by her actions.” Matthew 11:18-19

We will do well to heed the words, “Wisdom is vindicated by her actions.” The world is changing, and we must, with the help of the Holy Spirit, learn how to remain faithful, get along with one another, and serve God effectively in the times that we are living in.

What an opportunity we have today to enthusiastically tell the world about a Savior who has come to save us from our sin. Wouldn’t we be of greater use to our Lord by helping the folks that he loves to get to know him? If they need a change of heart about something; the Holy Spirit can bring it about without our judgments. We might even get a change of heart ourselves.

Pat and I took a ride the other day on a road that had a double yellow line up the middle. “This has got to take us somewhere,” I said. It did; It suddenly stopped at a driveway that was very unwelcoming to anyone who needed to turn around. Surely, we all know that our lines will suddenly come to such a stop.

I am convinced that in Heaven there will be no lines drawn in the sand; and the happy throng will once again enjoy sweet fellowship with one another. We may be amazed that “those other people,” are with us, just as they will be surprised to find us there. Perhaps when we get over the shock of being together in His presence, we will fully appreciate that it is by grace that we all are saved, and that his blood alone takes away the sin of the world, not just our little part of it.

“We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord, we are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord; and we pray that our unity will one day be restored, and they’ll know we are Christians by our love.”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
