From Pastor Will Shewey:
Today’s music features Landon and Tim. Oscar, Quinn and Jeff were all under the weather and were missed in worship. Lots of illness in our area, and attendance was down. However, we still had 2 first time guests and one long time member returned for the first time since pandemic began.
It was so good to see Reverend Mary Louise Sitton as she drove over from Blowing Rock to worship with us. About ten of our friends from the homeless community attended also.
A number of folk recorded greetings for our virtual Christmas Eve service that will be live streamed at 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on December 24th. Monday is the deadline for recording the greetings. You may also submit your message via email or messenger from your home or office.
FYI, our Christmas service will be in-house at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday (Christmas Eve) and the afore mentioned virtual service at night. Our volunteers and staff will provide meals for the homeless as usual and all other service will be offered during regular times (mail delivery, showers, birth certificates, homeless letters, emergency food bags etc.)
Shades received a call today from an area nursing home. A 93 year old lady with no living relatives passed away. She had lived there 7 years and suffered from dementia. The facility staff had become her family. They asked if we can assume responsibility for cremation and final arrangements. She will be buried at Immanuel Lutheran cemetery next year at the annual service of our unclaimed/indigent friends.
There are many lonely folk who have no one to care. May the Lord bless each one!
An Advent Prayer
May the Christ whom we celebrate during this Advent journey assure us of the blessed HOPE, fill our minds with PEACE, saturate our souls with JOY, and cause us to LOVE one another as He has loved us.
May eternal flames of the CHRIST candle continue to light our path as we walk each other home. My prayer is that not one of God’s little ones will ever be made to stumble because of my sincere efforts to fully follow the LORD. Thy will be done, LORD!
You can now listen to Shades of Grace on the Radio – FM 92.1
Everyone continue to pray for all who are feeling hopeless and helpless. May our advent journey bring us closer to Bethlehem’s Christ each passing day..”

It’s amazing how so many wandering souls make their way to our doors every day. Lord, May we be faithful to your call.
Serving the Last, Lost, Least and Lonely:

Luke 10:27 “And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.”
