Zechariah 2:13
““Be silent, all mankind, before the LORD; for He has roused Himself from His holy dwelling.”
“God of Possibilities”
When we lived in New York I learned how to get a limousine at the same price as a cab. So when flying, Nate and I would have a bit of fun with the limo service picking us up to and from the airport.
Our last limo ride didn’t go so well. We were met at the airport with this souped of station wagon – “Tales sicut videntur res non semper sunt,” Latin for “things are not always as they seem”. It’s an understatement to say we had a hairy ride home. The driver never missed a chance to drive upon curbside at each and every turn.
This can be summed up as a minor infraction or disappointing experience. We all have had much bigger ones. Some so tremendous that as Rev. Ray Amos recently said, “Disappointments sometimes blind us to the possibilities.”
Someone who is blind can sometimes see better than the blindsided. It’s hard to see beyond that, to see the realm of potential and possibilities.
God challenges us to open our eyes, not to what was yesterday but what can be. He provides direction to open our eyes to the paths He has for us. Even with our eyes closed, He wants us to see what He has for us.
Most of us don’t need a fancy lifestyle or limos and we certainly don’t like hairy rides but God, the Author of Peace sometimes requires us to stay still in the darkness and trust Him . . . Our God . . . The Lord of Possibilities.
