MELODY IN MY HEART
“He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the LORD.”
Psalm 40:3
I once was sitting at a traffic light when another car pulled up beside me. I was listening to a Gospel song but suddenly I couldn’t hear it anymore. The loud bass thumping in the other car was pounding out words that I could not understand. I started to turn up the volume for a little “dueling radio,” but I had a feeling that his was more than a radio. I lost my song for a while because my ear drum was still vibrating five miles up the road.
The challenge for Christians in days like these is keeping our song. The kingdom song is one of faith, hope and love. It gives praise to the greatness of our God, tells the story of Jesus, and is inspired by the Holy Spirit.
“I have a song that Jesus gave me,
It was sent from Heaven above.
There never was a sweeter melody,
’Tis the melody of love.”
Paul wrote that we could show a more excellent way of life. We have been given a beautiful melody In life that can attract and inspire people to walk with Jesus. Ours is a song of the Love of God. It may not be loud, but it is powerful enough to get the heart to beating with an everlasting melody:
“In my heart there rings a melody.
There rings a melody with heaven’s harmony.
In my heart there rings a melody
There rings a melody of love!?
