PALM SUNDAY – THE KING – HIS THRONE – A CROSS
“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your King is coming to you;
He is just and having salvation,
Lowly and riding on a donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey.
Zechariah 9:9, 14:4-9
WHAT APPEARED TO THE BEGINNING WAS THE END, WAS FOR OUR LORD TO DELIBERATELY PUT ASIDE THE PROMISE OF PALM SUNDAY FOR THE FULLNESS OF HUMANITY’S SALVATION.
“Now is my soul troubled; And what shall I say? Farther, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I into this hour.” (John 12:27)
“My kingdom is not of this world; if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now my kingdom is not from hence…To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth the truth.”
(John 18:36-37)
WHAT JESUS’ KINGDOM IS NOT: It doesn’t originate in this world; nor doesn’t seek to take over any world’s system. Rather than the forces of worldly powers, Christ’s Disciples are called to use only spiritual ones. (Ephesians 6:10-13)
Christ’s followers must keep the prophetic word by witness, example, and prayer to the state concerning it’s moral responsibilities, particularly to pray for their leaders, with “supplications, prayers and intercessions….for kings and for all that are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.” (I Timothy 2:1,2)
WHAT JESUS’S KINGDOM IS: Christ’s Kingdom involves His rule, His Lordship, His power and His Spiritual activity in the lives of His Disciples. “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink: but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.” (Romans 14:17) Also read II Corinthians 3:7-18.
WHAT JESUS’ KINGDOM WILL BE: Jesus Kingdom is a New Heaven and a New Earth, ruled by “He who is called faithful and true.” (Revelation 19:11.) This will occur after he comes to earth as He has promised, to judge the nations, where “every knee will bow and every tongue confess the Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:11). Jesus himself will RULE: rule over the devastation of the Antichrist; rule on earth for a 1,000 years, and then bring Satan and Satan’s Kingdom total and final end in the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:10) The Kingdom of Satan is presently the world’s rule, but not for long! He’s coming back for us, “Seeing then we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession…..Let us come boldly into the throne of grace. That we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:14,16)
