1 Peter 2:9
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9
Often God blesses a congregation with people made from a different mold. People who add a little bit of holy spice to life and worship. A friend once talked about an orchid that she came across in the forest. It added a rare, out of the ordinary, beauty among the trees. Thanks be to God for the people who have done the same thing among us.
In Heaven we will all be alike, while at the same time we will all be unique. The way that we will all be alike is that we shall all be like Jesus. The way that we will be different is that we will each one finally be who God created us to be.
The Scriptures have various ways of describing saints, and no one is ever called ordinary.
Jesus never came to this world to change us, but to save us from falling short of the glory of God; to bring into the light what sin has covered with darkness. His heart must break when he sees our foolish efforts to be noticed in a world of too much pretense. If we could only look into the mirror that is in our Heavenly Father’s house, then we would see the beautiful life he created us to be.
Today, we look into a mirror darkly, and we cannot see clearly who we are. All will be made clear someday, but it is enough to know that we are valuable to the Lord. He paid a high price to redeem us. That means that we are twice his. He created us, and when we became lost in sin, he bought us back. We must be something special; so, lets live like who we are: children of God.
“Oh yes, oh yes, I’m a child of the King
His royal blood now flows in my veins
And I who was wretched and poor now can sing
Praise God Praise God I’m a child of the King…”
