HOW CAN WE SAY THANKS
“From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another.”
“John 1:16”
“How can I say thanks
For the things You have done for me?
Things so undeserved,
Yet You gave to prove Your love for me;
The voices of a million angels
Could not express my gratitude.
All that I am and ever hope to be,
I owe it all to Thee.”
“From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another.” John 1:16
It was an on your face prayer when you plead with God for grace. That day He said, “No!” There are lessons in the Kingdom of God that are not learned from books, or lectures, but in the places where everything is wrung out of you, and you are as helpless as a rag.
We have learned a great lesson on the day when we stop asking for grace, and realize we have had it all along.
God said, “No,” because it would not be grace if I had to beg for it. Do you want to know what grace is? Well, first take a deep breath. You have just inhaled grace, and you never even thought about asking for it. The very air that we breathe is by the grace of God.
Maybe we need to hear Him say, “No!” Why keep asking for grace that has already come to us at great price? Wouldn’t it be more pleasing to God if we would accept this “so great a salvation,” and live it everyday?
When I read of that terrible day at Calvary; no one asked Jesus to forgive them, yet He prayed, “Father, forgive them…” Wouldn’t you call that Grace?
We do have much to ask in prayer, but we need not keep asking for what He has already given. Jesus died to settle our debt of sin. That is expensive grace, and It is for the world. I believe it, I gladly accept it, I am forgiven and I have eternal life! For that, I am thankful.
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
