“Ray Amos – 1-25-2024”
From January 25th, 2024

“Sorry that I’m a little late. I have been trying to get here for twenty-one days, but I was held up on another job. I finally got some help, so here I am.” Don’t you get tired of hearing things like that? Would it surprise you to know that the apology above is coming from an angel? The story is found in Daniel 10:12-14

We may feel like we are on hold with our prayer, but faith reminds us that we are not forgotten.

There are some things to remember when we pray: The first is to know that our prayers are immediately in the presence of God. “God heard your words the first day. Now I have come…” The second thing to remember is that there are heavenly powers involved in the answering of our prayers. Finally, we are reminded of the importance of patience when we pray. In prayer we learn to wait as a farmer who sows seed and waits patiently for the harvest.

Have you ever been like the child who wanted to help the Lord speed up things, so he pulled the pedals open on the roses? Some of us have done similar things in life. We got tired of waiting and took our own action. That is how a lot of problems and life messes get started.

I love this old Gospel song: “Teach me Lord to wait down on my knees, Till in Your own good time You answer my pleas. Teach me not to rely on what others do, but to wait in prayer for an answer from You.”

“They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, They shall mount up with wings as eagles, They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”

Teach me Lord, teach me Lord to wait.

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
