Before the mountains were born or You gave birth to the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.
“Psalm 90:2”
In Judges 5 the Philistines had taken the ark of God, but did not know what to do with it. They sat it beside their chief god Dagon, but the idol fell down on his face before it. They stood him back up, but the next day it had fallen down again, and this time it was broken. No idol, not even any of ours, can stand in the presence of God.
The Apostle Paul wrote of how we can profess to be wise, and yet become fools. It starts when folks refuse to believe that this world was created by God. Then taking the glory that God created, we begin to build our own gods and think more highly of ourselves than we ought to. All idols have fallen in their time; but God remains steadfast and true.
“This is my Father’s world. O let me never forget that though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the ruler yet. This is my Father’s world: why should my heart be sad? The Lord is King; let the heavens ring! God reigns; let the earth be glad!”
We can count our blessings that God gives us grace and still holds this world together. It is nothing less than mercy. According to 2 Timothy: 2:13, even if we are faithless, God is faithful because that is who he is (not what we deserve).
“There is none like you.
No one else can touch my heart like you do.
And I could search for all eternity long, And find there is none like you.”
