“Awake, awake; put on your strength, O Zion; put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city!” Isaiah 52:1a
What we put on this morning will probably depend on our plans for the day. The same is true concerning our spiritual attire. First, we must rise and shine. The enemy sows tares in the fields while we sleep. Do not say, “Just a little more sleep,” awake to the work of the soul.
Now, let’s get dressed to go with Jesus. Put on strength. Who knows what the day may bring. The journey from here to Heaven requires spiritual fortitude. We can do all things through Christ who gives us strength.
The Lord said to his people, “Put on your beautiful garments.” We should model a Christianity that is beautiful, and the church should be attractive and desirable. The people of God are dressing to be like a bride adorned for her husband. We must put off the old rags of unloveliness and put on holiness, which is the beauty of Christ.
“Clothe us in Your righteousness.
Hide filthy rags of sin.
Dress us in Your perfect garb.
Both outside and within.”
