“The Lord will be the sure foundation for your times…” Isaiah 33:6
“How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
Is laid for your faith in His excellent word!”
A solid foundation is a must for living in this world. Many great structures have failed because of a poor foundation; it is no different with us. The Psalmist asked, “When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3)
A good life must stand on a solid rock that is hidden deep into the heart of God. Other people will see the outward structure, but the Lord knows what kind of foundation we are built on.
The scripture did not say the Lord is our foundation, but that He will be. That means that a sure foundation is provided, but it is up to each one of us to build on it.
Leave the Lord out of your life and you may have a good, even a great life, for a time, but the day of testing comes to all of us. This is just as true for our home, our church, and even the nation.
Jesus said that everyone who hears his words, and acts on them may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.…”
“The Church’s one foundation
Is Jesus Christ her Lord;
She is His new creation
By water and the Word:
From heav’n He came and sought her
To be His holy Bride;
With His own blood He bought her,
And for her life He died.”
