“Take care so that you don’t forget the Lord who brought you out…” Deuteronomy 6:12
Isn’t it amazing how quickly our spiritual attitudes can change? A friend walked out of church and said that his cup was full and running over with joy. Later he told me that on the way home his wife’s driving made him spill everything in the cup.
John Wesley wrote that his heart was strangely warmed; then, a few days later the chill of a struggling soul had returned. These are the ups and downs of living by faith on this earth. Many of us are acquainted with the “yo-yo” of our feelings.
“Sometimes I feel like a Christian, Sometimes I don’t.” Either way I must remember that Salvation doesn’t depend on my feelings, but upon what Jesus did on the Cross. I am saved because I have a Savior.
It is spiritually dangerous for us to let the memory of our walk with God fade away. Jesus warned a church that had forgotten how they once loved to remember, and come back to the Lord. The disciples worried about not having bread when the day before they saw Him feed the multitude; how quickly we forget the grace of God.
Whatever we might be going through today, please don’t forget to remember. Remember how He has helped you before, and He is not going to fail you now.
“Here I raise my Ebenezer,
Hither by Thy help I’ve come.
And I hope by Thy good pleasure,
Safely to arrive at home.”
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
