“He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.” Mark 4:39
It was predicted to be the worst storm in history. He was the last of the family to enter into the shelter. There he would wait for his father to close the door. When it was closed, and the wind and rain began to beat against them, he looked up through the window knowing that his help came from above. The storm would pass, the ark would endure, and he would see a new day.
Noah taught us something about getting through the storms of life. Arks are built on cloudless and peaceful days to prepare us for the stormy ones. There is no greater shelter for us than a relationship with God. When storms approach, we can look up knowing that our help also comes from above.
It was during a storm when Paul wrote, that “all hope of being saved had been abandoned…there stood by me an angel of God to whom I belong and whom I worship, and he said, ‘do not be afraid’…so keep up your courage for I have faith in God.” Whatever is going on today dear friend, keep your courage, and trust God.
Most of us have been caught in a few storms during our life. It is not always the weather; it may come with a phone call, a health test, or just from out of the blue. I have a long prayer list of many friends who are going through the storms of life today. We have a Savior who can say, “Peace, be still” to the wind and waves, and to our heart.
“Then suddenly without a warning
A storm surrounded my life,
But even in the storm
I can feel the calm,
And here’s the reason why,
I know the Peace speaker,
I know Him by name.
I know the Peace speaker,
He controls the winds and waves.
When He says, “Peace, be still,”
They have to obey.
I’m glad I know the Peace speaker,
Yes, I know Him by name.”
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
