“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.” 1 John 4:9
Holy Week has begun for another year. The key word for today is “sent.”
“Love sent my Savior to die in my stead.
Why should He love me so?
Meekly to Calvary’s cross He was led.
Why should He love me so?”
To be sent means that Jesus was obedient. The Bible says that he was obedient unto death.
“Why should he love me so?” I do not believe that it is possible on this earth for us to comprehend and appreciate the Love of God. Our best efforts are like seeing through a glass darkly. Someday we will see clearly, and we will know what salvation truly means. Then our thankful hearts will beat with unending praise.
If Jesus had not come, the streets of Heaven would never hear the joyful song of the redeemed, there would be no one to cast a crown at our Savior’s feet, and the “Marriage Supper of the Lamb” would have neither bride nor guest.
God did not send his son into the world because we loved him, but because he loved us while we were yet sinners. He sent Jesus to bring us prodigals back home.
“Why should He love me so?
Why should He love me so?
Why should my Savior to Calvary go?
Why should He love me so?”
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
