“Ray Amos – 1 Chronicles 4:10”
From April 18th, 2024

Rev. Ray and Pat Amos

It is an uncomfortable moment for any preacher; that time when you have to wrestle with the sermon while you are preaching it. It was such a time when somewhere out in the pew a man spoke, or prayed out loud, “Bless him Lord!” All I could think was, “Yes Lord, I will take all the blessing that I can get right now.”

“Oh that you would bless me indeed…” 1 Chronicles 4:10

The little girl sneezed and no one paid any attention to it. After a moment had passed, she said, “Will somebody bless me!” Of course we thought it was funny, but I believe we can learn a lesson from those words.

Is it okay to pray for God to bless me? That can seem selfish, but it may be exactly the prayer that God has been waiting on us to pray.

“Bless me,” is a prayer that the Lord answered on different occasions in the Bible. Jacob wrestled with Him, saying, I will not let you go until you bless me!” The Lord granted his request. God considered Jabez to be more honorable because he prayed to be blessed.

God blesses his children because we all need it. I am convinced that whatever it takes for any of us to deliver our part of the Gospel and God’s Love; He will provide. “I will bless you…and you will be a blessing.” Genesis 12:2

Our granddaughter got plenty of blessings after her request. Sometimes we have not because we ask not. “Lord, in your kindness and grace, bless me, Bless all of us, that we might be a blessing to someone today.”

“We are so blessed take what we have to bring,
Take it all everything. Lord, we bring it to you.
When we’re empty you fill us ’til we overflow,
When we’re hungry you feed us and cause us to know,
We are so, so blessed, by the gifts from your hand,
Just can’t understand, why you love us so much.”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
