“Ray Amos – Genesis 4:7”

“Sin is crouching at the door.” (Genesis 4:7) – “Behold I stand at the door…” (Revelation 3:20)

A pastor was walking through the neighborhood when he saw a little boy trying to ring a doorbell at someone’s house. The button was high, and the boy was short. as the pastor watched the young fellow trying to reach it, he decided to help. He went up on the porch and said, “Young man let me ring the bell for you.” When he pushed the bell, the boy looked up with a sneaky grin that had two front teeth missing; and he said to the kind man, “Now we have to run and hide.”

Jesus said, “I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in.” There will always be someone at the heart’s door. Satan will be lurking like a thief, or a wolf, but Jesus stands knocking and kindly calling our name. He wants to come in and bring us the joy of sweet communion with God.

For any who have never opened their heart to the Savior, you have a very special guest who has been knocking at the door. Why don’t you let him come in?

In the late 1950s there was a TV series called “The Millionaire.” A man would knock on a door of some “everyday home” with a check for One Million Dollars from a mysterious benefactor. I was a child back then, and how I wished that he would knock on our door. He never showed up but someone greater than he sure did. He did not come with silver and gold, but he offered life with all its abundance.

Christ does the same at every home, and every heart. What a blessing of unspeakable riches that comes to those who welcome the Savior in. As far as the rascal crouching at the door; he may be a pest, but no longer a danger. He can never enter a place where Christ abides and rules.

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
