“Ray Amos – John 5:6”
From June 4th, 2024

Rev. Ray and Pat Amos

“When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” John 5:6

“The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool…”

One of the greatest losses we can experience is when we lose hope. There are two things in today’s text that contribute to hopelessness. The first is how long we have been in the situation, and the other is when we get tunnel vision and see only one way through.

“Do you want to be made better” seems like a foolish question, but when Jesus asked it, then it became profound. Is it possible that we can grow so accustomed to our thorn in the flesh that we forget why we came to the healing place?

“I have no one to help me.” He had no idea that he was in the presence of God who was eager to reach down his hand. Do you feel that you are in the same situation, with no one who cares? There is good news : Jesus is in the house! His ways are not our ways, but they are always best.

The Apostle Paul wrote of a time when he needed a friend, and no one stood with him. He went on to write that the Lord stood with him and gave him the strength to get through.

“When The World Seems Cold,
And Your Friends Seem Few.
There’s Someone Who Cares For You..
When There’s Tears In Your Eyes,
Your Heart Bleeds Inside.
There Is Someone Who Cares For You.”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
