“Ray Amos 5-13-2025 – John 4:6”

…Jesus, tired out by His journey, was sitting by the well. John 4:6

“God was tired out;” what an incredible thought. He was sitting by the well. Was He remembering when He watched Jacob dig this well? He supplied the water to the well, yet He needed someone to give Him a drink. What do we do when we are tired? When was the last time that we sat by the well of Living Waters and and asked for a drink?

We sometimes come to worship when we are tired and weary. As it often is, the service begins, and it seems like the burden on our soul is lighter. Why would God have recorded in the Bible that Jesus was tired? Perhaps He wants to teach wearied travelers on this earthly journey what to do.

God calls us to come and sit awhile by the well. Come out of your weary world of busyness and helter-skelter, of fighting and fears, and just sit awhile with the Lord. Wait on Him to speak the refreshing words that you need to hear. Remember that Isaiah said, “They that wait upon the Lord will renew their strength.”

People die of thirst while the lifesaving water flows freely in the ground below them. We too can spiritually dry up and die without the water that comes from God. It is available, but only obtainable through Jesus. Have you, will you, come to the fountain and freely drink today?

“Come with thy sins to the fountain,
Come with thy burden of grief;
Bury them deep in its waters,
There thou wilt find a relief.”

Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
