Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
I have read that the tall Redwoods have a very shallow root system compared to the width and height of the tree. What makes them strong is the way that the roots are interwoven. The trees can even find strength in leaning on each other as side by side they reach up toward heaven.
“It is not good that man should be alone;” that was God’s first observation in the account of creation as told in Genesis 2.
People need the Lord, we know that, and people need people. Is it any wonder that the two commandments on which all other commandments hang is to Love God with our everything, and our neighbor as ourselves? It is worth noting that God created relationship long before there was religion?
Sometimes I think I am the saddest for people who live as though they only need to check in with God occasionally, and that they don’t need the fellowship of the family of God at all. Some get away with it for a long time, but the day comes when we may realize that we have ignored and neglected what we needed most.
I thank God for the interwoven roots of my Christian brothers and sisters. The truth is our roots can be shallow, and the storms would take us down if we did not have one another to share life and faith with. As we grow in the forest of God’s Love, and as we reach for the heights of Heaven, let us give thanks for the wonderful people whom God has intertwined in our life.
“There is only one God,
There is only one King
There is only one Body,
That is why we sing.
Bind us together, Lord
Bind us together
With cords that cannot be broken
Bind us together, Lord
Bind us together
Bind us together in Love.”
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
