Fixing Our Eyes on Jesus

“O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory” (Psa 108:1, KJV). Several translations have “my heart is steadfast.” Fixed is defined as “set or intent on something; steadily directed.” David’s heart was steadfast or steadily directed toward God.

Our hearts must be fixed “on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith” as we run with endurance the race that is set before us (Heb 12:1-2, NIV). It is not how fast we start the race; it is not even how fast we run; the crown goes to those who cross the finish line in faith: “To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne.” Is your heart fixed, steadfast, and steadily directed toward Him who sits at the right hand of God?
