Rev. Ray and Pat Amos
Do not forsake your friend and the friend of your father.” Proverbs 27:10
Jesus told of a woman who had counted her treasures (ten coins) and discovered that one was missing. She diligently searched until she found it; and then she rejoiced with friends. He said that as they celebrated on earth, that there was also rejoicing in Heaven.
We have a great treasure of friends and family here and in Heaven. We all may sometimes sort through photos and boxes of things from days gone by. It takes us on some wonderful walks down the paths that now lie behind us. In treasured memories that glisten like jewels we can walk with old friends again. I suppose that you call it a sentimental journey, I call it, “Life is Good.”
I recommend that you count your treasures. Not the balance in the bank, but the riches of the heart. Don’t forget how wealthy you are. Heaven grows sweeter every day, and the hugs of good friends on earth are priceless. And should it be that a coin is missing. If you haven’t seen or heard from an old friend in a long while, maybe it’s time for a note to be written. Real paper and personal handwriting make treasures that can be held close to the heart. A visit, or a “How do you do” can restore the glory of a misplaced treasure.
“As I travel on life’s pathway, know not what the years may hold; As I ponder, hope grows fonder, Precious memories flood my soul. Precious memories, how they linger How they ever flood my soul. In the stillness of the midnight, Precious sacred scenes unfold.”
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
