Give your best to the Master

“Give your best to the Master;
Naught else is worthy His love;
He gave Himself for your ransom,
Gave up His glory above.”

That song influenced my early life.

To do something for the glory of God means that we are contributing our best to the cause of Christ. Like a master craftsman whose work brings beauty and value to the temple, our contribution does the same in the Kingdom of God.

There was once a time when God’s children grew weary of worship. Soon they were offering God the leftovers of their life. The prophet told them to offer those sickly sacrifices to the governor and see what he had to say about it. Of course, they did not, it would be too embarrassing, yet they were offering them to God. How many times does God get our leftovers?

Have we ever received scraps from Heaven? A thousand times no! When He gave His Son, we truly got Heaven’s best.

What ministries are we involved in? What tasks has the Lord assigned us? Does He get the best of our ability, time, and resources? What could we ever do to rightly thank the Lord for the things that He has done?

“I wonder, have I done my best for Jesus,
who died upon the cruel tree?
To think of His great sacrifice at Calvary!
I know my Lord expects the best from me.
I wonder, have I done my best for Jesus,
When He has done so much for me?”
