He shall be to you a restorer of life… Ruth 4:15
It is amazing to see how people remodel wrecked and old worn-out cars. It is more amazing to see what God can do with lives that have been dilapidated by sin.
Think of the stories that those old cars could tell. They have traveled so many places: family visits, vacations and all the other places where people go. Some wore out from many miles on the busy highway; others rusted out from traveling too little and moving slow. A few even ended up in a barn or a backyard, or some other abandoned place. Their traveling days were over; and then someone found and redeemed them. They had a second chance to be on the road again.
There is a Sunday morning gathering of folks who are much like those Saturday night show cars. We come in all makes and models, some are compact, and others are large. A few are sporty, some fancy; but most are just practical get around and do the best you can kind of people. We find our places in pews and there we sit with the hoods of hearts open, and life exposed as a display of God’s amazing grace.
We too have our stories of life fast and slow, roads that were smooth and ruts so deep. Some people feel abandoned and left alone with hope of life gone, and no one to see or hear anymore. With high mileage, dents, and wrinkled fenders; there we sit while we pray and sing.
We too are a people who share a common denominator in the eternal story of God’s Love: We know what it means to have been left on the side of life’s road, and then found, redeemed, and restored; those who knew us can see and say, “What great things the Lord has done.” We simply say, “He restores my soul.”
“PICK UP THE BROKEN PIECES AND BRING THEM TO THE LORD
PICK UP THE BROKEN PIECES TRUST IN HIS HOLY WORD
HE WILL PUT YOU BACK TOGETHER AND MAKE YOUR LIFE COMPLETE
JUST PLACE THE BROKEN PIECES AT THE SAVIOR’S FEET.”
Grace and Peace, Rev Ray
