Sharing the Reason for the Hope That You Have
“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.” 1 Peter 3:15
When I was a youth I was influenced by people who truly seemed to walk with the Lord. I wanted to experience the kind of Christian faith that they had. These witnesses of Christ came out of everyday life, like salt of the earth sprinkled all around. They truly made me thirsty for water from the well that springs up into new life.
I am thankful for our local churches, no matter what the brand. It is the people from them who touch our lives. They love their church, but they believe that it is most important to lead someone to Jesus.
Why should anyone want to follow our lead if we are not living a faithful life outside the Sunday worship service? And if we are living in the joy of the Lord, people will want to know how to get it for themselves.
We want our friends to know that our God is a precious God who pardons sins. He did it for us, and he will do it for them.
The Lord’s people are a happy people. Jesus truly was. The crowds followed him, children loved him; No one willingly follows a glowering, moody person. It is Jesus who leads us to Heaven, but we lead others to Him. What kind of attitude are we leading with?
What a blessing to have met people who caused our heart to want what they had; and then to discover that we could have it too. It is a gift of God.
“I wish for you my friend, this happiness that I have found.
You can depend on him, it matters not where you are bound.
I’ll shout it from the mountain top,
I want the world to know, the Lord of love has come to me
I want to pass it on.”
