Are You in Over Your Head?
The saying “He’s in over his head” means that one has become so deeply involved with something or someone that getting out on one’s own seems impossible.
Lot got in over his head when he pitched his tent toward Sodom. David got in over his head when he slept with Bathsheba. Peter got in over his head when he took his eyes off Jesus and focused on the wind and the waves. We, too, get in over our heads when we ignore God’s warnings and take our eyes off Jesus (Hebrews 12:2).
Whatever the reason, if you are in over your head, cry out: “Save me, O God! For the waters have come up to my neck. I sink in deep mire, where there is no foothold; I have come into deep waters, and the flood sweeps over me” (Psalm 69:1-2).
