Don’t Fake It When You Don’t Feel It
Life can be a bummer sometimes, and when it is, we need to pour out our hearts to God, not offering sweet little tweets, trying to fake unquestioning faith.
David said, “I cry aloud to the Lord; I lift up my voice to the Lord for mercy. I pour out before him my complaint; before him I tell my trouble” (Psalms 142:1-2).
When one reads the entire psalm, it is clear that David is not complaining against God, but to God. Some people, to be sure, are perpetual complainers; but we might as well be honest with God, because he knows the state of our hearts. However, as long as we try to fake it ‘til we make it, God will not respond to our deepest need, because we have not asked (James 4:2).
