The Ground Is Level at the Foot of the Cross
Over the years, I have observed that some believers are very secure in their conviction that they are saved, while showing tolerance toward other believers who have the same conviction but differ on some points.
In contrast, some believers who are very strong in their conviction that they are saved are very intolerant of others with the same conviction but who differ on some points.
A third group is sure that all who disagree with them are lost, but insecure about their own salvation.
At the foot of the cross, there is no room for either arrogance or insecurity, for Paul wrote: “He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time” (2 Tim 1:9).
