Never, Never, Never Be Satisfied in Life
Be content with such things as you have,” says the writer of Hebrews (13:5). Jesus said that the body is more than food and clothes (Matt 6:5). It is that “more” that really gives life meaning. Children of God should never be satisfied with who they are—“now we are the children of God, but it does not yet appear what we shall be (1 John 3:2).
David said, “Deliver my soul from the wicked by your sword, from men by your hand, O Lord, from men of the world whose portion is in this life. You fill their womb with treasure; they are satisfied with children, and they leave their abundance to their infants. As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness” (Psalm 17:13-15).
David would be right at home singing with us: “O to be like Thee! Blessed Redeemer. This is my constant longing and prayer; Gladly I’ll forfeit all of earth’s treasures Jesus, Thy perfect likeness to wear.”
